THE place for a great meal with amazing views of the water.  Whether you choose breakfast lunch or dinner, you won't be disappointed. We've been there for drinks only --  just for the sunset. Servers are friendly and accommodating if you want slight variations to the menu. Great flour tortillas!!

We return to La Chata each visit to PV several times during our stay.  It is a can't miss restaurant.

Highly recommend!!  (But let me know your thoughts if you feel otherwise.)

Hmmm ... what to say. Pretty nice view, price nice people. I had the flat steak and got food poisoning. Flight was the next day, I suffered through it. I wish I had a different experience but mine was horrible. My group who had the same dish was also fighting for his life! I didn't like walking in there to begin with ... stay away! Or take a chance ...

Walking along the downtown area in Puerto Vallarta, needed some good food and the cab driver suggested this place. very nice inside. staff was nice, prices were fair, and the portions were good. ordered some basics, mole enchiladas, chicken quesadillas, fish tacos, all of it was real good. im all about the Mole, and they had good mole, and good Mexican cheese, good quality. the drinks were good as well. beer selection was ok, not great, and the place itself was clean and well kept. Note that they didn't seem to take us dollars, so we had run out of pesos, so making change and getting the right money to the guys was kind of pain, but in all it worked out.
if your in that area of Puerto Vallarta, do stop by and get some food. i would say the Mole is great and the enchiladas are a must.

Came here randomly because it was nearby where we were walking around (near the melacon). The restaurant was pretty big with only 2 other tables dining in. The view was nice, but the food was mediocre. I definitely have had better Mexican food. I wanted to get some seafood, so I got a garlic shrimp plate and it was alright, could have used more garlic. I also tried some of the mixed enchilada plate, which was kind of dry and needed more flavor in my opinion. The complimentary chips and salsa were pretty good, and I ordered a side of guac which was good too. We shared a shrimp quesadilla and that was much better than my garlic shrimp dish. Maybe stick to the basics, or try another restaurant in town instead.

This is a great place to visit if you are in Puerto Vallarta and want to enjoy delicious Mexican cuisine but also feel comfortable as an English speaker. They even have menus in English and the waiter could speak at least some English, too. Nevertheless, even though that this place is touristy, the food was really tasty and authentic. I came here with three Mexican friends and all of them looooved their food. Just like I did.

I follow simple rules that if a place gets basic things such as frijoles, guacamole and rice well, then it only gets better. Which was certainly true in La Chata. One of my favorite dishes was side dish of grilled mushrooms with garlic, just typing it out makes my mouth watery! Their vegetarian fajitas were amazing as well.

The service is great and overall this place is as Mexican as it can get. With live Mariachi, seeing voladores from the balcony, hanging piñatas from the ceiling and sipping on margaritas or even better - typical Mexican cocktail called Cazuela (totally recommend this one over here by the way), it seriously cannot get more Mexican. Unless you get robbed, haha! Well, just positive here...

You will spend more  money here than you would spend in restaurants in back alleys or in those that aren't touristy, but if you are willing to pay for an amazing food, great service, beautiful view of the ocean and overlooking Malecón, then this is THE place to go.

    Enjoy!
